To become a Step Ahead! teacher, register your interest now in the next INFORMATION SEMINAR conducted by Dr Julia Solomon.

The author, Dr Julia Solomon, as a psychologist and educator, has produced a teaching method which addresses the increasing number of school pupils who are failing in English literacy. After many years of research, she introduced her unique system "Reading for Sure™", as an alternative to conventional methods in school reading. She has since been concerned that children need to be well prepared for literacy at the pre-school level. Dr Solomon has researched and found ample evidence that this is the time when the child's brain is at its peak for learning to use the phonological processes that are the basis of reading. Dr Solomon has now completed Step Ahead!" engaging the pre-school child in a delightful program of activities, systematically introduced to match the child's maturing brain and to achieve all the necessary preliminary skills for English literacy.

How does it work?

Step Ahead! is the training program which enables a person to teach the Getting Started section of the Reading for Sure system.

A Statement of Attainment or its equivalent is awarded to participants who successfully complete Units 1 and 2. This qualifies them to deliver Step Ahead! which contains the content for teaching preliminary literacy skills, to develop the processes required before reading regular text at school grade level.

Participants may complete this course separately from the Reading For Sure course. For example, you may wish to teach your own pre-school child or you may be involved in a child-care centre. We recommend that you attend the information seminar for further information.
