Teach your own child

To be come an accredited Stepping Ahead! teacher, or to help your own child, the first step is to attend an Information Seminar where all your questions will be answered.

Stepping Ahead!

Ideally suited to pre-schoolers between the ages of 2 and 5

Stepping Ahead! is a structured program that provides for the development of thinking skills. The ideal time to introduce the program is between the ages of two and three so that the advanced child will be stimulated, and delay will be prevented in the ‘at risk’ child.

With the use of toys and pictures in STEPPING AHEAD! we have  a program of pre-literacy activities that has appeal for any child capable of naming their toys .

The tasks introduced to the child have three major goals:

  1. to experience language, ie to recount an experience
  2. to recognise that a spoken word has a matching written word
  3. to develop phonological awareness, ie apply techniques that help the child match the phonemes with the graphemes.

The final aim of all activities is for the child to be able to read the reading primer "Fat Cat Sam".
