THE 'PROVEN SYSTEM' FOR READING ENGLISH

Our reading products are divided into two main categories:

Getting Started (see below)
Before your pupil can successfully read in English, they need to have some basic language and vocabulary skills. These include:
- recognising the shapes of the letters of the alphabet (graphemes);
- recognising that different letters have different sounds (phonemes);
- blending consonant and vowel sounds to say words; and
- having a vocabulary of basic English words.
The Step Ahead! program builds these skills through a range of fun activities and resources!
Reading for Sure Program (see below)
The Reading for Sure program is based on the System Teaching Kit. This is a system that introduces your pupil to our 18 Marking Symbols - the key to confidently pronouncing and reading English words. Each symbol is introduced in a separate session, with practice exercises, Marked word lists, and Marked stories to reinforce and expand the learning.
The Reading for Sure program includes all of the instructions, activities and resources you will need for your pupil to become a Confident Reader!

Product	Brief Description
Getting Started on CD-ROM	Have the whole Pre-Reading Clinic on your home computer! Contains: Fat Cat Sam, Nursery Rhymes, Alphabet Chart and Games. Print out the charts and games and readers so you can teach your child away from the computer.
FAT CAT SAM Reader	This book takes the new reader through blended sounds and major language concepts.
Nursery Rhyme Readers	Five parent readers with large print and story-related pictures.

RFS Module 2 - Long Vowels (CD)	Module 2 of the Reading for Sure program on computer CD-ROM! Covers the Long Vowel sounds.
RFS Module 3 - Other Sounds (CD)	Module 3 of the Reading for Sure program on your home computer! Covers the Other Sounds.
Gumnut Stories	A range of Extension Reading stories, to promote the skills pupils have developed in the RFS Modules.
