"Reading for Sure. Thank you so much.

My son R. ,now 25, attended your classes as a 10 year old. He was struggling with the basics in learning to read , was unhappy and his reading age was years behind. With your positive support and patience he was able to easily pronounce so many words that were alien to him previously. After just a few months he was reading very well using the code. We inserted the symbols above the words in the books at home and his confidence soared. He finished the programme and continued school. We didn’t think too much about it.

Until tonight. We were celebrating his birthday. Someone commented on reading. R. commented if it wasn’t for your programme he would still be battling. I thought that after initial tutoring with the code kids just move on and remember the words like everyone else.

R. says he still sees the code when he reads.

So once again thanks so much!!

TESTIMONIAL

Reading for Sure Success!

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr Julia Solomon for the opportunity she has extended to my son - the chance to read!
"Reading for Sure" has changed his world, giving him a gift for life. His life, I believe, will be very different from what could have
otherwise been expected because he was identified by his speech pathologist
as being a perfect candidate for the "Reading for Sure" program. He is now
an avid reader where he originally could not decode a single word.
I am eternally grateful!
Yours sincerely
Jennifer W

What does this system have that other reading programmes lack? Here are just a few.

  • The  theoretical base

validated in the theory of cognition and and neuropsychological science studied by the author, clinical psychologfist, Dr Julia Solomon, and explained in her books: "Encounters, - A Schedule for Early Childhood : "Teaching Literacy from the Beginning" : "Stepping Ahead" :  "Start Reading".

  • A unique pronunciation code

adapted from the International Pronunciation Dictionary by removing all its ambiguities, which can be overprinted on any exiting text through unique software, so making the reading of English failure free from the beginning. For instance the short and long vowels are distinguished by a different diacritical sign. This is unlike the dictionary and other programmes which use the same sign for long and short vowels so the reader is not sure how to pronounce a word such as 'live'.

  •  Original "Phonologic Fun"  reading books

for each stage in the step by step system of 'Reading for Sure' , three supplementary reading books containing original stories are provided for practising the new sound.

  • A structured spelling system

that integrates with the progress in reading.

  • Research Data

compiled from the records of every student enrolled in the programme including results from contolled classroom  studies testing 'Reading for Sure'.

ENGLISH IS A LANGUAGE THAT MOST PEOPLE WANT TO READ

BUT MANY FIND DIFFICULT. This is mainly because three out of every four English words are not pronounced as they are spelled. Trying to deal with that conflict is the most common cause of reading delay and failure.   ARE YOU CURIOUS ABOUT A SYSTEM THAT OVERCOMES THAT DIFFICULTY !!!???

BY USING A VERY AUTHENTICATED CODED PHONICS SYSTEM, READING FOR SURE MAKES THE  PRONUNCIATION OF EVERY WORD SO CLEAR THAT IT IS FAILURE FREE.

'Reading for Sure' focuses on the printed word and on how a sequence of letters makes the word: the word is not determined by the picture. Until a reader can separate the sounds and then blend them in the correct sequence to pronounce the word in print, reading accurately and independently will be delayed.

After a while guessing and memory fail with unfamiliar words. The pupil has no strategy for working out the accurate pronunciation of a word...boy reading...which may have a combination of vowels that can be pronounced in innumerable ways. Another major obstacle in reading English is the unpredictable 'silent' letter.boy frustrated with reading
Without correct pronunciation there is no way of gaining meaning from the printed word. Reading then becomes a useless exercise and the pupil gives up.give up trying
guidecard for reading
Reading for Sure provides a simple, logical answer. It overprints existing English text with diacritical (pronunciation) marks.
In Reading for Sure these marks are adapted from universal dictionary pronunciation signs.

How the Reading for Sure™ pronunciation system differs from other systems

  • There is one sign for each of the eighteen vowel sounds in English speech.
  • There is no ambiguity. One sign has only one sound.
  • A unique mark denotes the silent letter(s).
  • The pronunciation code is taught systematically by beginning with the six short vowels and their pronunciation signs.
  • Reading for Sure begins for each individual where reading success is a sure outcome.
  • Success is not dependent on memory.and guessing is vigorously discouraged.
  • It focuses on the process of reading which relies on blending separate speech sounds to make words - not on repetitive 'look and say'.
  • In sound blending irregular words (words where the letters differ from the pronunciation) the problems are overcome by the pupils themselves, without the use of a dictionary or another person giving the pronunciation.
  • Any unfamilar word can be introduced into the reading vocabulary, to match the pupil's interest, so enhancing self esteem and confidence.
  • There is no repetitive drill on word families or rules.
  • A sight word vocabulary is built up after continuous practice and success in the process of sound blending.
  • In Reading for Sure, reading skills are achieved through reading. It is the reading experience which eventually makes the pronunciation signs redundant as automatic reading takes over.
